Under Natures Spell

Swedish for “oil,” OLJA is inspired by the healing wisdom of plants to nurture your hair, skin and body. Grounded in an appreciation and respect for the changing cycles of nature and the human body, OLJA combines core botanical ingredients with those that shift seasonally, according to our wellbeing needs and plant availability, ensuring that our products never take too much from the land or put a strain on natural resources while still serving your most important beauty priorities. Based in upstate New York, OLJA works closely with regional and global farmers, growers and distillers to ensure our organic ingredients are harvested with regenerative agricultural techniques that maximize carbon capturing in soil, preserve eco-systems and utilize nutrients at their peak.

All OLJA products are formulated by hand in small quantities in our Catskills studio, set on 22 acres. Every batch is rigorously tested for purity and potency using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC-MS), which verifies the origin and composition of raw ingredients. To preserve the integrity of the nutrients, we rely on plant preservatives rather than synthetic chemicals, and our products are packaged in recyclable violet glass containers, which filter out light to keep our formulas vibrant and active for longer periods of time. OLJA uses whole-plant materials, rather than isolates, in order to respect the life force of plants and not disturb the balance of nutrients that work in harmony to heal and repair the body. Our products are cruelty-free, 100% natural, undiluted, and free from parabens, glycols, petroleum, sulfates, phthalates, silicones, pesticides, artificial dyes and fragrances.

OLJA’s ethos and approach honors the mysteriously dark, romantic and untamed nature that’s celebrated and cherished in Scandinavian culture and folklore, combined with a local, deeply rooted passion for living in harmony with the earth and seasons. OLJA is the start of your beauty journey.
