FOUNDER & CHIEF FORMULATOR
Amy Lindwall
Amy Lindwall is an herbalist, distiller and clinical aromatherapist. Her career in beauty began as a hairstylist and colorist nearly 20 years ago, when she trained in London. She later assisted backstage and collaborated on numerous editorial shoots for publications including Vogue, W, Another Magazine, Dazed and Confused, and T: The New York Times Style Magazine, among others. She eventually split her time between London and New York, flying back and forth to see clients, becoming known for her skill and precision with blonde shades in particular. It was during this time that Lindwall noticed many of her clients had scalp health issues.
In 2009, she started blending custom scalp oils to soothe, nourish and balance this sensitive area of skin, which inspired her to formally study herbalism and clinical aromatherapy. Today, she’s a member of the American Herbalists Guild and certified through the Alliance of International Aromatherapists. As Lindwall’s expertise developed, so did her range of products. OLJA launched in 2019 and now spans hair-care, skin-care and wellness. The original Scalp Oil - a purifying and calming mixture of cedarwood, German chamomile, rosemary, spike lavender, peppermint - is still one of the brand’s most popular items.
In 2011, Lindwall moved to upstate NY, in the Catskills, where she lives with her Swedish husband, and their young daughter. Lindwall formulates OLJA out of a renovated 1700s-era farmhouse surrounded by 22 acres, using whole-plant materials, rather than isolates, to respect the natural balance of nutrients that work in harmony to heal and repair the body. At the heart of OLJA is Lindwall’s belief in nurturing our physical wellbeing while deepening our relationship with the natural world.
